Our printmaking cooperative is celebrating its 10th anniversary! We are the only Columbus area fine art printmaking facility outside a university setting. Since 1998, the cooperative has been dedicated to enriching the cultural climate of the Columbus area through education and exploration of printmaking media and providing a well-equipped studio for artists and students.

Through support of a Franklin County Neighborhood Arts Grant and in coordination with the Ohio Dominican University, an exhibition of etchings, monoprints, relief prints and collagraphs by current members and past members will be on exhibition to celebrate 10 creative years. Over 15 artists will be participating.

The exhibition will also feature the debut of the cooperative’s Alphabet Book, the most recent member print exchange. This print collection will be presented in an artist book format, a limited edition of 20 handmade books.

In addition, 5 gallery talks by members will be presented and are open to the public on consecutive Wednesdays at noon. A variety of workshops for will also be offered promoting innovative print techniques, printmaking instructions for teaching professionals and a professional practices clinic for college students.

The cooperative will host a special artist visit from Sid Chafetz at the cooperative on Sunday, October 19 at 2:00 pm. One of our early advocates, nationally & internationally renowned printmaker Sid Chafetz will share his story and entertain your questions.

Melissa Vogley Woods in OAL show

Sunbonnet Sue In Trouble

February 2 - 23, 2008

Works by Melissa Vogley Woods

Curated by Helma Groot
Reception February 2, 2008 6 - 9p.m.
Member Preview Reception February 1, 2008 6 - 8p.m.

Sunbonnet Sue is a traditional American quilt pattern; the small characters are often portrayed in a grid layout with multiple Sunbonnet Sue’s tucked safely into their own block. Melissa Vogley Wood’s interest in this character stems from its inherent ambiguities as a metaphor of icon and persona. In these works, the artist releases this intrinsically symbolic character to investigate the inevitable mayhem created in their encounters.
